Jeff grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the fourth of eight children, and in close proximity to a large extended family. He attended Coe College where he earned his BA in Business Administration in 1978. He started in the financial services industry that fall and has worked in a variety of settings ever since. In 1989, along with his wife Jean, he incorporated Prime Financial Strategies so he could become “a financial advisor”, a term not in use when he first considered that goal as a new college graduate. It was in 1992 that he set upon his dream of working in PFS fulltime, and as an entrepreneur he has built a solid financial advisory firm with clients in 24 states across the country. He loves to educate and problem solve with his clients and their families.
Jeff strives to simplify complex financial concepts and make them memorable. He acts as a translator and guide when discussing the various tools available to our clients, and current economic circumstances, helping people sort through the conflicting information provided in the media. He currently holds the Series 63, 7 and 24 securities registrations (previously held the Series 1 and 22) as well as Life, Health, Disability, Annuities and LTC insurance licenses. Jeff has also pursued further education in these fields and holds numerous designations demonstrating his dedication to education.
As the senior “life-long” and multi-generational financial advisor in the firm, Jeff develops financial plans based upon his lengthy interview process with our prospective clients, and the data gathered and analyzed by his staff. He takes each client’s goals and objectives to heart and offers action steps and a path to goal realization. Then he and the staff assist all clients in implementing the action steps they determine are their own priorities. With Jean and their son Neil in the firm, the Family Financial Firm has become a central theme in his approach to serving our clients.
Helping the financial industry community, Jeff has been a member of, and served on the Boards of several organizations in Colorado Springs and elsewhere. Most recently he completed his service on the Board of the Colorado Springs Estate Planning Council and continues his active participation in that organization as well as the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors – Colorado Springs. He and Jean have two adult, married children; Leah who lives with her husband Mike in Salt Lake City, and Neil and his wife Kendra and their children who live in Colorado Springs. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren who live in the city.
